The Village big band was born in 1993 diuring a foggy winter in the "Pianura Padana" plains near the city of Bologna. In our land, wind condenses like smoke in the cold season, but wind instruments gather easily in Close-Knight groups !Š As a matter of fact, many of Italy's greatest musical talents especially in brass and wind instruments, come from this geographic area, so we may recognize the merits of a so-called "Emiliano-Romagnola School of Jazz". If you add to this Sandro Comini, who posseses the passion and capacity to pursue a big musical project, what you get is the Village Big Band.



This Great Orchestra is composed of eighteen young musical talents selected, trained and directed by Sandro Comini.
It was put together because of Sandro's strong desire to make a LIVE big band come true.


The name of the band comes from the "Village Club", the place where the orchestra started meeting in 1993 for rehearsal. Around 1995 and 1996, VBB had its first important engagements at the Ferrara Jazz Festival, the Cesena Jazz Festival, and at Red Ronnie's TV Show "HELP". In June 1997, the band opened the "Partita del Cuore" (a benefit soccer game broadcast on RAI 1 national channel for an audience of millions). Two months later played at the Eucharistic Council, again on RAI 1, live from Bologna's "Dall'Ara Stadium".
The band also made a guest appearance on the italian TV marathon "Telethon" and for Montecarlo's TV network TMC 2 in the famous "Roxy Bar" show on December 30th, 1997. In 1998, the VBB gained national recognition playing in Italy's major theaters (including Milan's "Teatro Lirico") on the "Mediolanum Tour '98" with the great italian artist Andrea Mingardi. On new year's eve of 1998, VBB performed live in "Mezzanotte...Angeli in Piazza", a big show broadcasted simultaneously by Italy's two major national channels (RAI 1 and RAI 2). For the event, besides playing its own repertoire, VBB supported the musical guest artists Amii Stewart, Fausto Leali and Andrea Mingardi.

At the present time, Village Big Band is one of the most interesting big band projects in Italy and is also available in Europe for any musical situation You need.
